Sister Bay’s K. Allen Gallery Features Taylor Mueller

The K. Allen Gallery will open the latest works of local artist Taylor Mueller, a fresh face to Door County’s art scene, on Saturday, Nov. 27 from 12 – 4 pm.

Mueller recently earned a BA degree from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, where he received high accolades for his work in photo collages.

After Mueller’s years of working to find the hidden visual treasures of a depressed city, he now has come home to pursue a fresh approach to documenting the beauty of Door County. Skewing perspectives and bending an image in his work, allows Mueller to reconstruct a space, redefining it. He amplifies textures such as beach stone, bends linear elements such as railroad tracks, and juxtaposes daylight intensities to achieve large scale panoramic views with his own personal flair.

During Mueller’s senior year at Knox he was given the opportunity to do a residency in New York City where his time was spent in an intense study of museums and contemporary artists. This time was well spent as it led him into his first real body of work. Using his camera as his initial portal he captured pictorial swatches and then stitched them together in his basement studio.

The K. Allen Gallery is located at 2571 County Road Q in Sister Bay. For more information call 920.854.4100 or visit http://www.kallengallery.com.
