Slaying the Slayers

On a cold and wet Saturday, Oct. 4, the Door County Destroyers continued their dominance in the Wisconsin State Football League by crushing the Slinger Slayers at Baileys Harbor Rec Park, 66-0. The game was dominated by the running and defense of the Destroyers. Running back Troy Prill led the way on the ground, running six times for 98 yards and three touchdowns. Four other players ran for touchdowns, including a 47-yarder by defensive back Josh Murray.

The Destroyers’ defense was led by linebacker Chris LeCloux, who had seven tackles – three for loss and one sack. Cornerback Victor Williams cashed in on a bad pass by intercepting it and returning it for a touchdown. Defensive end Bryan Beachler blocked a punt and recovered it himself to spark the special teams.

With the win the Destroyers move to 9-0 on the season and will be the number one seed heading into the playoffs. The Slayers move to 0-7 with the loss.

This week the Destroyers have off but will be back in action on Oct. 18 as they travel to Sheboygan County to take on the 6-2 Rebels.
