Snowshoe New Trails at Crossroads

Crossroads at Big Creek is celebrating Groundhog Day by loaning skis and snowshoes to anyone who wants to celebrate the beauty of nature in winter. Of course, they loan skis every Sunday, at least when snow conditions allow.

On Jan. 31 at 10 am, join the naturalist in snowshoeing the new trails at Crossroads during a guided snowshoe hike. Loaner snowshoes are available. This outing is free and open to the public. Come 15 minutes early to borrow snowshoes. If interested, meet at the Collins Learning Center.

On Feb. 2, 1 – 3 pm, winter equipment loans will continue for all who want to ski and snowshoe. Loans are free and open to the public. Equipment must be used at Crossroads and returned by 4 pm.

On Feb. 3 at 6:30 pm, join the Friends of Crossroads as they plan for upcoming events. New members are welcome; meet at the Collins Learning Center.

The Door Peninsula Astronomical Society will meet Feb 4 at 7 pm. The featured program is a video presentation called “On Being Round.” Professor Neil deGrasse Tyson will describe the property of “roundness.”

Tom Minahan will present “This Month in Astronomy.” Refreshments will be served and visitors are welcome. If interested, meet at the Stonecipher Astronomy Center by using the Utah Street entrance to Crossroads.

The Collins Learning Center, located at 2041 Michigan Street in Sturgeon Bay, is open 2 – 4:30 pm daily and during scheduled activities.
