Sod Coming Soon for Baileys Marina Park

During the annual town meeting of electors in Baileys Harbor, attended by almost 100 people, a resident asked about the status of the former Nelson’s hardware and motel site.

A small, sandy beach area has been created in front of stone revetment walls, and contractors have completed a concrete sidewalk between the two walls.

Town board marina committee chair Sue Tishler said workers will put down sod in the park next to the marina and bordered on the west and east by state Highway 57 and the new wall. Resident Bob Bultman asked if there would be any plantings other than turfgrass. He did not receive a definitive answer as to what else might be planted.

On April 23, a crew from Door Landscape and Nursery of Egg Harbor was completing grading to smooth out the land where the former Nelson’s buildings were leveled. Team leader Montana Gunnlaugsson said the hope is to finish adding soil and sod well before Memorial Day.
