Girls Softball: Pioneers Win Season Opener

Sevastopol’s softball team opened the season Monday on a winning note with a 6-2 non-conference road victory over Wisconsin Rapids Assumption.

The Pioneers’ Addison Schauske recorded the complete-game pitching victory, allowing four hits while striking out 10.

Sevastopol’s leading hitters included Jolene Luedtke, who batted 2-3 with a triple and a double and 4 RBI. Alaina Schopf hit 1-4 with a triple. Naomi Rikkola stole three bases and scored twice.

The Pioneers open Packerland Conference action Tuesday afternoon with a doubleheader at Gibraltar.
