Songwriter Showcase Branches Out

The Songwriter Showcase, started in Sturgeon Bay at Café Launch in Sept., 2007, has become an innovative leader in the realm of the traditional open-mic. Feb. 13 the showcase moves to the Door County Outpost in Egg Harbor.

Encouraging songwriters to get up and play original works to a listening audience has fostered tremendous creativity and artistic collaboration within Door County and beyond.

In October of 2008 Adam Mackintosh and Anna Sacks, co-founders, took the showcase to Café Kavarna in Green Bay and were overwhelmed by the attendance. Sixteen songwriters came to perform, and the venue was filled with patrons, many of whom stayed for the entire show.

Kavarna’s Alex Galt was pleased with the event, and has decided to host it each month. The winter closure of Café Launch prompted Mackintosh and Sacks to branch out with the Songwriter Showcase, taking it to 3rd Ave. Café (Sturgeon Bay), The Door County Outpost (Egg Harbor) and Kavarna.
