Southern Door Receives Farm to School Grant

The Southern Door School District received a Farm to School Planning Grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service for the 2020-21 school year that allows the district to increase consumption of local agriculture products and expand curricula by incorporating more agriculture, nutrition and wellness topics. Southern Door is asking for the community’s help to decide how best to use this opportunity. The district seeks to partner with local farmers who would be interested in sharing their farming knowledge with students, and also with farmers and businesses to incorporate more local agricultural products into school lunches. Interested parties should complete the Farm-to-School Community Partners survey at southerndoor.k12.wi.us/district/farm_to_school by Dec. 11.
