Student Art on Display at Miller Art Museum

The Miller Art Museum is presenting its 48th annual Salon of Door County High School Art April 16 – May 23. Presented in collaboration with peninsula art educators, the exhibition marks nearly five decades of displaying artwork created in diverse media by students who live in Door County. This year’s exhibition will include contributions by more than 100 student artists, amounting to 197 imaginative works.

The public is invited to a free opening reception April 18, 7-8:30 pm, when light refreshments will be served.

Art teachers will present certificates of participation to all student artists, and the Miller Art Museum will present five Awards of Excellence and five Honorable Mentions, which are all cash awards. This year, the museum is also partnering with the Artists Guild in Sturgeon Bay and Peninsula School of Art in Fish Creek to offer award recipients certificates for art supplies and instruction to further their artistic endeavors. This was made possible through a gift from the Cramer Family Fund in memory of Tricia Cramer, a longtime arts supporter.

Cash awards of $100 will also be presented to each high school art department in honor of the Door County Art League, which dissolved in 2016.

Although proof of vaccination is not required to attend the opening reception, masks are strongly recommended, and visitors are asked to practice social distancing. Learn more at millerartmuseum.org.
