Sturgeon Bay Breakfast Rotary Club Delivers Dictionaries to Door County Third Graders

Continuing a decade-old tradition, the Sturgeon Bay Breakfast Rotary Club has delivered dictionaries to every third-grade student in the county. From Washington Island to Southern Door, club members brought the books to each classroom during the past two weeks. Public and parochial schools were included for a total of more than 250 books. “Dictionaries are essential references as students begin to develop writing skills,” said Breakfast Club President Greg Dietz. “Our club members wholeheartedly support this project and enjoy making the deliveries.”

Sturgeon Bay Breakfast Rotary raises the funds for the book purchase with brat stands in local festivals during the year. In addition to the annual gift of dictionaries, Breakfast Rotary supports Door County nonprofit organizations with a series of grants voted on by all the members. Meetings are held on Tuesdays from 7:15-8:30 am at Hope Church. The mission of Rotary International is “Service Above Self.” Anyone interested in club membership is invited to a breakfast meeting.
