Sturgeon Bay Community News: West Fest A Success

The first annual West Fest took place Saturday, October 25 on Sturgeon Bay’s west side and was quite a roundup with all kinds of cowboys, Mohican dancers, classic cars, donkey wagon rides, chili tasting…even a tug fest at the Maritime Museum.

With the cool weather, the chili competition was quite a hit. Cash prizes were sponsored by NEW Insurance Concepts with lst place going to Gary Behling’s Chuck Wagon Chicken chili, 2nd place was won by Sonny’s with Jason’s special Secret chili, and 3rd place to Eric Smith’s Fajita chili.

The best looking cowboy and cowgirl prizes, sponsored by Door Guard Security, were awarded to Jim Simonar, Leanne Schmidtke, and Tony Bertall.

There was even gold in them there hills for the Gold Rush Cash Giveaway winners. The first winner was Bernie Kudick with $100 in gold coins, Sue Dahms was next with $200 in gold, and Penny Writt hit the jackpot with the big prize, $300 in gold coins.
