Sturgeon Bay Winter Festival Seeks Ice & Snow Carvers

The Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center is looking for carvers to sculpt blocks of ice at the upcoming Fire & Ice Festival taking place Feb. 18.

Interested artists/sculptors would be expected to design and carve a piece of art by turning a block of ice into a potential award winning creation. Carving will begin at 8:30 am and judges will begin the review of the artwork at 2 pm. Cash prizes will be awarded in three classes – Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced. There will also be a People’s Choice award with voting by the general public. The registration deadline is Feb. 13.

Again this year, professional carvers will be working on large snow blocks at Sawyer Park. There will also be several smaller snow blocks for young people or families to carve. The Pioneer Fire Department will provide food and beverages.
