Sturgeon Bay’s Holiday Music Motel Presents Classical Concert

Roza Borisova

On Saturday, May 28 at 7 pm, Sturgeon Bay’s Holiday Music Motel will present its first classical concert with world-renown husband and wife duo Stas Venglevski and Roza Borisova, natives of the Republic of Moldova and Russia, respectively. Borisova plays and teaches the cello and Venglevski performs the bayan, a chromatic push-button accordion developed in Russia early in the twentieth century.

Borisova earned her BA in Music Performance from Russia’s Ioshkar-Ola State Music College before moving to Moscow, where she met Venglevski – the two-time first-prize winner of the Republic of Moldova’s National Bayan Competition.

After their time at college, Venglevski toured extensively throughout the former Soviet Union, Canada, Europe, and the United States, and performed with Doc Severinsen, Steve Allen, and Garrison Keillor.

In 1993, the couple relocated to the U.S, and they currently live in Milwaukee. Borisova currently performs with the Green Bay Symphony Orchestra and the Woodstock Mozart Festival Orchestra of Woodstock, Illinois. In addition to performing with symphony orchestras throughout the United States, Venglevski also works regularly with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra’s Arts in Community Education Program (ACE).

Tickets for the concert are $10. Seating is limited; reservations are encouraged. For more information or to reserve tickets call 920.743.5571 or visit http://www.holidaymusicmotel.com/tickets.
