“Surfin” Benefits Shelter

Against a backdrop of boats on the harbor, the Door County Humane Society (DCHS) benefit “Surfin’ for the Shelter” will take place on Aug. 1 in Egg Harbor. This annual dinner and dance is the primary fundraiser for the Humane Society, contributing approximately $25,000 to the animal care-operating fund. The cost per ticket is $75, and is a tax-deductible contribution.

“What better expression of summer sun and fun could there be than a surfing theme with all that great music?” said DCHS Executive Director Carrie Counihan. “Our wonderful restaurant donors again are contributing signature dishes, and we can’t wait for this evening to begin. This is the final year for this event as we will be starting a new style fundraiser in 2015.”

“Surfin’ for the Shelter” begins at 6:30 pm in a large tent at Harbor View Park, and is held rain or shine. Diners may choose from a wide variety of specialties donated by restaurants throughout Door County. Madison-based band Whoz Playin? will provide the musical entertainment. Beer and wine are included in the ticket price.

Table sponsorships may be purchased for $1,000, which includes eight tickets as well as inclusion in marketing materials. Tickets are available by calling DCHS at 920.746.1111, stopping into the shelter on County Road PD, or at Sister Bay Trading. Director Counihan is available to discuss the opportunities for individual or corporate sponsorship.
