TAP’s ‘Shooting Star’ Opens

Third Avenue Playhouse ushers in its 2019 season April 4-20 with Steven Dietz’s romantic comedy Shooting Star, featuring Doug Mancheski and Amy Ensign.

Snowed in overnight at an airport, former college lovers Elena Carson and Reed McAllister have an unexpected and life-altering reunion years later. As the night gives way to laughter, banter, reminiscence and alcohol, Elena and Reed revisit a past that holds more surprises than they imagined and a present that neither could have predicted.

The Door Peninsula Astronomical Society (DPAS) will host the opening-night performance, so society members will greet playgoers in the theater’s lobby, staff a celestial display and highlight DPAS’ scholarship fund, created by astronomy professor and Door County native Ray Stonecipher. Any donations will be added to this fund, which continues to grow. This year DPAS will award four scholarships.

A pay-what-you-can preview will be held on April 3. Performances are Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 2 pm, with a special addition on April 17 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are on sale at thirdavenueplayhouse.com.
