The Birds and the Bees

On Sept. 4, 1 – 3 pm, The Ridges Sanctuary will hold a program on “The Importance of Migratory Bird Stopovers.” Learn what triggers a migration, why some species choose Wisconsin and why it’s critically important to maintain highly diverse habitats like the Sanctuary. Space is limited and advance registration is required.

On Sept. 5, 10 am – noon, Max Martin will present “The Bizziness of Bees: Pollination, Honey & Wax.” Martin, program manager at the U.S. Department of Agriculture Potato Gene Bank, will share insights about the fascinating world of bees.

On Sept. 6, 1 – 3 pm, join a Ridges naturalist for “Gardens for the Three Bs: How to Make an Oasis for Birds, Butterflies and Bee.” During a brief introduction, learn about backyard bird habitats, the importance of bees and how to build gardens to attract butterflies and then enjoy some time outdoors to view these habitats in action at the Sanctuary. Space is limited and advance registration is required.
