The Ridges Hosts Hike through Logan Creek Property

This September The Ridges Sanctuary offers two very different ways to experience Door County’s fall colors and wildlife.

Take a relaxing fall hike through The Ridges Sanctuary’s Logan Creek Property on Sept. 27. These hikes will be led by Ridges Naturalist Karen Newbern, and will begin at 1 pm. The Logan Creek area features a variety of habitats, with trails leading through upland deciduous forests, cedar swamps, and several natural communities in between. The sugar maples and beeches will be putting on their fall colors, and a few wildflower species should be in bloom as well.

Participants should wear weather appropriate clothing and footwear. Hikers should meet at the Logan Creek parking area, 5724 Loritz Road, just south of Jacksonport. The cost for the Logan Creek Fall Colors Hike is $5 per adult and children under 18 hike for free. To pre-register, call 920.839.2802.

On Sept. 28, take a paddle tour on Kangaroo Lake and enjoy the colors of the season from a glass bottom kayak with a Ridges naturalist as your guide. Tours are offered at 8 am and 3 pm and last approximately three hours. Paddlers can expect to see migrating birds and waterfowl, turtles and freshwater mussels.

The Fall Colors Paddle Tours are done in collaboration with Lakeshore Adventures in Baileys Harbor. The fee for the Fall Colors tour is $55 per person. For reservations call 920.493.3474.
