This Weekend in Door County: Pig Wrestling and Kite Festival

The summer season is upon us and there are too many different activities to keep track of. Good thing The Peninsula Pulse is here to help. Check out all the fun happening in Door County this weekend.

 

On Friday, August 17th, lettuce celebrate the start of the weekend at the Egg Harbor Farmers Market. At Harbor View Park enjoy large assortment of locally grown produce as well as foods and baked goods. Hand crafted items.  Read more>>

The fun really starts Friday night in Valmy at the 36th annual Thresheree & Antique Machinery Show. Gates open at 6pm Friday with a country band. But over the weekend there will be lots of live music, a chainsaw competition, antique tractor pulls, afternoon “barn dance,” mud pig wrestling, and more.  Read more>>

On Saturday, August 18th, come watch the professionals soar giant show kites and compete in Algoma at the Soar on the Shore Kite Festival.  You might even have the opportunity to join in the fun.  Read more>>

Take a ride on the Washington Island Ferry for the Washington Island Fair. Located on the island’s school grounds enjoy a parade, bingo, raffles, food and beer, and fun games and fair activities.  Read more>>

Finish the day at the Waterfront Park in Sister Bay for the Short Film Festival. Bring a blanket, refreshments and enjoy a selection of entertaining short films from around the world.  Read more>>

Sunday August 19th, end your Door County weekend at the Annual Belgian Kermiss in Brussels. The Kermiss is a Belgian harvest celebration with traditional food including booyah, trippe, jutt, and Belgian pie. Burgers, beer, and homemade ice cream available, also. Featuring live music, craft exhibitions, a bucket raffle, an antique farm implement display, special presentation, games for kids, and tours of the nearby Belgian American Clubhouse.  Sounds like a waffle good time!  Read more>>
