Tour Door County Holiday Homes

Thanksgiving weekend, Nov. 25 and 26, the Northern Door Children’s Center offers a chance for visitors and residents alike to take a walk throughout various Door County homes decked out in holiday décor. For $20, the fifth annual Holiday Home Tour features self-guided tours through five diverse homes. “The Bake Shoppe,” open to the public and hosted by St. Paul’s Church in Fish Creek, will offer a selection of home baked goods.

The homes on the tour include Vicki and Wes Maynard’s historic Door County farmstead, once home to the prosperous dairy farmers Thure and Elise Ahman (Ohman), as well as the newly constructed home of Polly and Don Helm, owners of Door County Nature Works and DesignWorks.

The Weborg home, where Santa himself is making an appearance, will feature a collection of Moravian stars while Kathy and Tom McCarthy’s home will feature samplings of homemade chocolates.

Finally, the spacious home of Sandy and Bernie Friendenfels will feature an array of artwork by Door County artists, as well as a bonfire both Friday and Saturday evenings.

The tour appeals to a variety of individuals – those looking for decorating ideas, those looking for building ideas, or those who simply wish to embrace the Christmas spirit.

Tickets may be purchased from local merchants, at Northern Door Children’s Center in Sister Bay and online at http://www.northerndoorchildrencenter.org. Tickets will also be available at each home and the church on the days of the tour, Friday from 4 – 8 pm and Saturday from 10 am – 4 pm. All proceeds benefit the center.
