“Transitions” Happening at Universalist Gallery

Painting by Lynn DeNamur.

Door County artists Lynn DeNamur and Mark Zelten will show their combined artwork in May at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County (UUFDC) Gallery, Ephraim. An opening artist reception will be held May 9 from 4 – 7 pm.

“Transitions” is a timely and inviting title for a May exhibit. It is the artists’ belief that it is with “graceful transition we are able to sustain a will to live.”

Painting by Mark Zelten.

DeNamur and Zelten differ in painting style and subject, making for a show that will satisfy diverse artistic appetites. DeNamur focuses on still life with accurate detail of shape, light and shadows, and an intense use of colors. She considers herself a “representational artist” and that “less is more,” while Zelten moves between landscapes and portraits, all painted in shifting abstract shapes and flowing colors. Having formally learned the “how” of painting, he has transitioned to exploring “why” he paints.

DeNamur and Zelten both studied fulltime at the Kewaunee Academy of Fine Art and under Door County artist Craig Blietz and Bonnita Budysz. Each continued their studies under numerous other artists and workshops. For those interested in more vitae detail and a preview of Lynn and Marks’ work, see http://www.ephraimfineart.com.

The public is invited to the UU Gallery, 10341 Hwy. 42, Ephraim, any Sunday following services from 11 am – 12:30 pm and Mondays, 1 – 3 pm. In addition to the May 9 reception, the artists will be on hand Memorial Day weekend, May 23, 10 am – 6 pm and May 24, 11 am – 6 pm. For more information on UUFDC, visit http://www.uufdc.org.
