Unexpected Art

Sometimes fine art appears where you least expect it – the pattern of snow on a sidewalk or the kites on display at the Meadows Art Gallery in Sister Bay. The kites are part of a collection from Scott Smith, the Dietary Manager of the Scandia Facility where the gallery is located.

The kites come from all over the world, and are functional, sculptural kites. The Meadows Art Gallery has brand new track lighting that brings the color, shape and form of the kites into focus. 35-foot-long kite tails are woven into other kites and create a wall relief of color, shadow and dimension.

This exhibition is on display until April 27.

The May show features poetry from the Door County Members of the Wallace Poetry Group who illustrate their poems. The theme for these works is “April 1st Revisited.” This show opens April 28.

The Meadows Art Gallery is located just inside the entrance to The Meadows at the Scandia Village in Sister Bay. The gallery is open 10 am – 5 pm daily.
