United Way Endowment Fund to Begin 2008 Granting Process

In 1997 the United Way Board of Directors officially established the United Way of Door County Endowment Fund to ensure future financial stability for their organization and the community. The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that the amount of money available for Endowment Fund Grants for the calendar year 2008 is $2,760.

The United Way of Door County Planned Giving Committee is issuing a Request For Proposals for community projects. Proposals will be awarded based on grant application criteria. The United Way of Door County’s Vision Statement and Mission Statement will be used as guidelines for distribution of funds. Approved grant money must be used for the specified purpose within a specified amount of time, or returned to the United Way of Door County Endowment Fund.

“Think about the many things Door County means to you. At United Way of Door County we feel the number one quality that makes Door County special is the people who live here – our neighbors,” states Eric Paulsen, Endowment Committee Chair. “The Board of Directors wants to ensure that your United Way can continue to meet the ever-changing needs that arise within the county. One way that we can impact our neighbor’s lives and our community is with our Endowment Fund.”

The United Way of Door County Endowment Fund is made up of monetary gifts that are designated to the Endowment Fund. These gifts are usually in the form of memorials or gifts in honor of someone. That money is then invested in the Endowment Fund with the Door County Community Foundation. At the end of each fiscal year five percent of the fund can be used to finance community projects.

Application forms along with the Vision and Mission Statements can be picked up at the office, or by contacting the United Way office at 920.746.9645 or [email protected]. Proposals should be submitted to the United Way of Door County, Endowment Fund Grants, P.O. Box 223, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235.
