United Way of Door County Accepting Applications

If your organization offers programs that meet human service needs in our community, the United Way of Door County is now accepting applications to grant funds. They are opening up their Annual Community Investment process to any not-for-profit organization that meets the needs of people in Door County and strengthens the United Way’s mission of “Empowering people to build better lives.”

When asked about funding programs within agencies, Executive Director Amy Kohnle explained “We do this because our organization is committed to providing our donors with an ideal experience. Funding programs, as opposed to agencies, means that donors are informed of what every dollar they donate to United Way is doing within their Door County community.”

Applications are due April 25, 2008 and during late April, May, and early June, applicants will meet with the volunteers who are on the Community Investment Committee to review their application. The amounts granted by this committee will then establish the amount of money that United Way will need to raise during their 2008 Campaign. The programs that are awarded grants will then receive their funds in monthly installments during 2009.

Kohnle is available to answer any questions that organizations may have in regards to whether or not their organization is qualified to apply to United Way for 2009 funding. Application forms are available by contacting the United Way office at 920.746.9645 or [email protected].

Individuals interested in serving as a volunteer on the Community Investment Committee during the six-week process, should contact United Way of Door County at 920.746.9645 or [email protected].
