Upcoming Auditions for Stage Door’s “Love, Loss and What I Wore”

James Valcq and Claire Morkin in Third Avenue Playhouse’s production of “Souvenir.” Submitted photo.

Souvenir opened at Third Avenue Playhouse (TAP) on Feb. 20 and will continue its run through March 9.

Souvenir is based on the real life story of Florence Foster Jenkins (played by Claire Morkin) – a wealthy society eccentric who suffered under the delusion that she was a great coloratura soprano when she was in fact incapable of producing two consecutive notes in tune.

Souvenir, by turn hilarious and poignant, tells her story through the eyes of her accompanist, Cosme McMoon (played by James Valcq). The production is directed by TAP’s co-artistic director Robert Boles.

Tickets are $22 general admission, $10 students 12 – 24, and $5 children 11 and younger. Performances begin at 7:30 pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and at 2 pm on Sunday. For tickets, call 920.243.1760, visit thirdavenueplayhouse.com, or stop by the box office at 239 North Third Avenue in Sturgeon Bay from Tuesday through Friday, 12 to 5 pm.

Auditions for Stage Door Theatre Company’s Love, Loss and What I Wore by Norah Ephron & Delia Ephron will be held Feb. 25 and 26 from 6 – 9 pm.

The production calls for five women ranging in age from late teens/early 20s to 70-plus. There’s no need to bring in prepared audition material; all those auditioning will read from the script.

Directed by Claire Morkin, Love, Loss and What I Wore is a scrapbook of side-splitting stories about unfortunate prom dresses, the traumatic lighting in fitting rooms, high heels, short skirts and the existential state of having nothing to wear.

Performances are scheduled for May 1 – 18. For more information, call 920.743.1760.
