Upcoming Exhibit Highlights Glories of Door County

3 Sheds, (2004) by Paul Lurie

On Saturday, September 6, 2008, The Francis Hardy Center for the Arts, Ephraim, WI, will open “The Glories of the Door County Rural Landscape,” an exhibition that will take viewers on an engaging and thought-provoking visual journey to explore Door County’s rural landscapes through the eyes of fine art photographer Paul Lurie.

Paul Lurie is a Chicago-native who has, time and time again, been inspired by the pristine Door County landscape since first visiting the peninsula in the 1970s. Lurie is now a seasonal Door County resident and has extensively documented the importance of old farm buildings to the Cultural Landscape of Door County. His simple, stunning photographs and unique perspective provide an ideal platform with which to promote awareness – along with preservation – of cultural landscapes. Appropriately, the historic Anderson Warehouse, which houses the Francis Hardy Gallery, is where the exhibit will be on display through Monday, October 13, 2008.

“The Glories of the Door County Rural Landscape” will open with a special reception on Saturday evening, September 6, 2008 from 5 – 7 pm.

The exhibit has been supported by Attorney Collin J. Dahl of Sister Bay and in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The gallery is located on the Anderson Dock in historic downtown Ephraim, Wisconsin and is open daily 10 am – 5 pm. For more information visit http://www.thehardy.org or call 920.854.2210.
