UU Book Group Features Wisconsin Author

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County (UUFDC) will continue its Book Club this summer with monthly titles, beginning with Population 485: Meeting Your Neighbors One Siren at a Time by Michael Perry on June 4.

Here the local vigilante is a farmer’s wife armed with a pistol and a Bible, the most senior member of the volunteer fire department is a cross-eyed butcher with one kidney and two ex-wives (both of whom work at the only gas station in town) and the back roads are haunted by the ghosts of children and farmers. Michael Perry loves this place. He grew up here, and now after a decade away – he has returned.

Peggy Lott will host the book discussion on June 4 from 1 – 3 pm at her home, 10284 Water St. (Hwy. 42), Ephraim.

The Book Club selection for July 2 is Loving Frank by Nancy Hogan based on the real-life love affair of architect Frank Lloyd Wright. August’s read will be Divisadero written by Michael Ondaatje and the discussion will be hosted by Myrna Cohn on August 6.

The UU Book Club welcomes anyone interested in discussing the selected books. For more information contact Myrna Cohn at 920.559.2559.
