UUFDC Poetry Series Features June Nirschl

June Nirschl will be the featured poet during the Dickinson Poetry Series on March 9, 7 pm, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County (UUFDC), 10341 Water St. (Hwy 42) in Ephraim.

Nirschl strives for poetry that sings, and it was the excitement of writing poems that first attracted her to the county – where poetry was already a vigorous endeavor – in 2000. Through the years she has taken numerous workshops and participated in poetry groups

Nirschl worked with Judy Roy and Nancy Rafal to publish Slightly Off Q in 1994, then worked with Roy to publish Two Off Q: A Conversation in Poetry, which the Wisconsin Library Association recognized as an outstanding achievement in poetry. Nirschl’s work has also been honored by the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets and the Hal Prize.

The Dickinson Poetry Series spotlights a local or regional poet, then offers an open mic that provides an opportunity for others to read their work.
