Vegetable-Garden Lecture

Kristina Beuning, owner of Sunbow Farm in Eau Claire, will present a free, public program on March 5, 7 pm, in the Collins Learning Center at Crossroads at Big Creek as part of the Door County Master Gardeners’ lecture series.

Beuning will discuss conserving and preserving vegetable-garden ecosystems by focusing not only on what’s grown, but how it’s grown. She’ll cover water conservation, building soil, plants that support pollinators and permaculture principles.

Beuning has owned and operated Sunbow Farm as an organic fruit and vegetable farm since 2003. She provides food for 100 families from May through November, along with stored and frozen produce during the winter.

Her passion for plants blossomed while earning a master’s degree in teaching biology and a Ph.D. in plant ecology. As an ecologist, Beuning strives to create an environment in which all farm-ecosystem organisms can thrive, from bacteria to pollinating insects to chickens. To learn more, visit sunbowfarm.com.
