Verse Wisconsin Calls for Submissions: “Mask and Monologue”

For spring 2012, Verse Wisconsin online will present “Mask or Monologue.”

Whether it’s a dialogue between self and soul or Harry and Sally, a poem about a historical figure, fictional character, or inanimate objects suddenly animate, Verse Wisconsin is interested in the masks poets don and the ones they strip off.

Poets are encouraged to send monologues or dialogues, reveries, masquerades, trickster poems. Poets are asked to include, if interested, a brief statement (prose) about their process, the voice or character the poem is written in, and how and why the poet made the choices they did in writing the poem.

Poets may send 3 – 5 poems in the body of an email to [email protected]. They are asked to include their last name and “Mask” in the subject line. The reading period will take place from September 1 – October 15.
