Viking Girls Fall in Second Half to Oconto

Gibraltar’s girls basketball team led by three points at halftime Thursday, but ended up losing its Packerland Conference home game to Oconto, 46-37.

“We were hurt by an inability to make free throws in the second half and were badly out-rebounded in the second half of the game,” said Vikings head coach Evan DeBroux.

Gibraltar, which was outscored 32-20 in the second half, shot 4-17 from the free-throw line in the final 18 minutes.

The Vikings were led by Mikala Gorham with 12 points. Andie Schar added nine points.

The Blue Devils’ Addisyn Viestenz scored 17 of her game-high 23 points in the second half.

Next up for Gibraltar, which dropped to 1-2 in the conference and 2-4 overall, is a home league game Dec. 15 against Sevastopol.
