Vikings Meet Again

Hecht is a freshman pitcher for Ripon working toward a physics degree for entry into engineering. Sawyer is a senior right fielder for Ripon getting a degree in exercise science. Forkert is senior pitcher for Marian majoring in business administration. Biwer is a red-shirted freshman for Marian working on a degree in sport & recreational management.

After finishing the season with a 14-2 Midwest Conference record for the second consecutive season, the Ripon baseball team saw several players collect postseason awards with six players named to the MWC North All-Conference team, including Egg Harbor native Tom Sawyer.

Sawyer is Ripon’s only position player to make a return to the All-Conference team, making his second career appearance after receiving the honor last year. Sawyer hit .342 this season with 42 runs scored, which ranked third in the MWC. He also recorded 10 doubles, one home run, 26 RBI and a team-high seven stolen bases on eight attempts.
