Vikings’ Winning Streak Snapped at Algoma

The Gibraltar girls basketball team saw its four-game winning streak come to an end Monday with a 48-37 loss at Algoma.

“We played pretty well given that we were short-handed last night due to injury and illness,” said Vikings head coach Evan DeBroux. “Everyone who played worked hard and positively contributed to the game. We showed a lot of fight and grit to retake the lead multiple times in the second half, but I could tell that we ran out of energy at the end of the game to create the opportunities and make the shots to keep pace with Algoma.”

Gibraltar was led by Mikala Gorham and Andie Schar, who tallied 10 points apiece.

Sierra Slaby led the Wolves with a game-high 17 points. Therese Gerdmann added 11 points.

The Vikings, who dropped to 4-4 in the Packerland Conference and 6-6 overall, return to action Friday at conference-leading and undefeated Kewaunee (7-0, 12-0).
