Visiting Theater Performs at Margaret Lockwood Gallery

Footlights Theatre Company based in Green Bay, hosted by Isadoora Theatre Company, will perform Art by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton. This Tony Award-winning play focuses on the definition of art and the meaning of friendship.

How much would you pay for a white painting? Would it matter who the painter was? Would it be art? One of Marc’s best friends, Serge, has just bought a very expensive painting. To Marc the painting is a joke, but Serge insists Marc doesn’t have the proper standard to judge the work.

Another friend, Yvan, though burdened by his own problems, allows himself to be pulled into this disagreement. Eager to please, Yvan tells Serge he likes the painting. Lines are drawn and these old friends square off over the canvas, until it is an excuse to relentlessly batter one another over various failures.

The show, which includes strong adult language, will be performed at the Inside/Outside Space below Margaret Lockwood Gallery on May 21, 7:30 pm, and May 22, 2 pm. Doors open 30 minutes before the show.
