Voters Approve $18 million for Southern Door School District

Voters authorized the Southern Door School District to exceed operational spending and to borrow for a new sports training facility.

While both referendum questions on the ballot passed in the Nov. 8 election, it was a slim margin –  2,220 to 2,139 – that authorized the district to borrow $14.9 million to fund a new sports training facility and other improvements and remodeling projects.

The district’s request to exceed revenue limits by $975,000 per year, for three years for operational expenses beginning with the 2023-24 school year passed 2,648 to 1,737.

In the only other referendum question in Door County, the Town of Nasewaupee voters said they wanted the town board to appoint its clerk (601 to 509) and treasurer (595 to 512) rather than have those positions elected, as they’ve always been.

The statewide races had not been called as of deadline. The complete Door County results can be found here.
