What To Do This Weekend: May 22-24

Memorial Day weekend in Door County is one of the most exciting of the season because everything is new again! It’s time to check in on businesses reopening after winter and businesses opening for the first time. Plus, there’s no shortage of events and entertainment. Look to our Calendar of Events to find ways to fill up your time. Here are a few highlights:

Friday, May 22

Pen Art’s 50th Anniversary Celebration: There will be ‘60s music and refreshments to celebrate “The Beat Goes On…the Happening of PenArt,” 6:30 – 8 pm

“The Golden Age of Comedy”: Rogue Theater brings their act to Ephraim Village Hall, with classic comedy skits from the TV series of the 50s, 60s, and 70s. 7:30 pm

Saturday, May 23

Maifest: A Jacksonport tradition spread over Saturday and Sunday with a parade, art fair, food, fun run, horse pull, helicopter rides and more. The parade begins at 10:30 am.

Door County Festival of Nature: Featuring guided hikes, workshops and presentations that highlight the incredible natural beauty and diversity of Door County during Memorial Day weekend.

Door’s Dirty 5K Mud Run: Cheer on mudders during this physically and mentally demanding course at the Team Leadership Center on Ploor Road. Spectators will also be able to take zip line tours during the event to benefit HELP of Door County.

Door County Brewing Co. first anniversary party:  Live music, specialty growlers and glassware all weekend.

Sunday, May 24

Door County Baseball League: At 1:30 pm all around the county, baseball teams will be in action: Egg Harbor @ Sister Bay, Institute @ Maplewood, Washington Island @ Kolberg, Baileys Harbor @ West Jacksonport

Unveiling of Egg Sculptures: Unveiling of three new artist-created egg sculptures that will become part of the village of Egg Harbor’s permanent outdoor art collection. This coincides with the Migratory Bird Day Celebration, 12 pm

WiFEE and the HUZz BAND: Round out the jam-packed weekend with a little Motown rock/funk on the patio of Stone Harbor, 2-6 pm
