Winning Films At The Door Kinetic Arts Festival

And a DKAF Recap

The Door Kinetic Arts Festival (DKAF) returned to Björklunden this September with a unique blend of short films, cocktails, dance, theater and music. 

The festival, now in its seventh year, received film submissions from 25 different countries. The winners are as follows:

  • Best of the Fest: On/Off by Jurg Slabbert of South Africa
  • Audience Favorite: On/Off by Jurg Slabbert of South Africa
  • Best Dance Film: Cygnus Synthetic by Katie Nicole Harmon of Chicago, Illinois
  • Best Wisconsin Film: A Cloudy Moon by TJ Hill of Madison, Wisconsin
  • Special Jury Award: Erlkönig by Morgan Middleton of Chicago, Illinois
  • Special Jury Award: What is Wrong with Us? by Maryusya Shuvalova of Ukraine

DKAF featured works in development by composer Ricky Ian Gordon; circus act Company To X For; playwright Brian James Polak; dance troupe Flying Foot Forum; performing arts group Beyond this Point; singer/writer Morgan Middleton; improv group The Knobs; standup comedian Katherine Duffy; and mixologist Robert Simonson. 

DKAF also welcomed two new directors to its board: performing arts advocate and actress Teresa Aportela Sergott and mosaic artist Joseph Kaftan.
