Wisconsin Celebrates Poetry

The Friends of Lorine Niedecker are hosting the Lorine Niedecker Wisconsin Poetry Festival from October 14 – 16 in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. The goal of the Poetry Festival is to celebrate Wisconsin poetry.

The weekend will include a Poetry Film Festival and a Book Bash for Margot Peter’s new book, Lorine Niedecker: A Poet’s Life. The festival offers opportunities for poets, publishers and those who appreciate poetry to gather, share, read and raise awareness for poetry in the Wisconsin culture. The festival will include workshops, poetry readings, small group presentations and discussions with some of Wisconsin’s finest poets.

The festival is sponsored by the Friends of Lorine Niedecker and includes partnerships with Verse Wisconsin Magazine, the Wisconsin Humanities Council, Café Carpe, Badger Press, the City of Fort Aktinson and the Dwight Foster Public Library.

A schedule is now posted on http://www.lorineniedecker.org. For more information search “Wisconsin Poetry Festival” online, or call Ann Engelman at 920.563.0416 or Amy Lutzke at 920.563.7790.
