Novel Ideas Celebrates National Poetry Month

Enjoy an afternoon of original poetry by Door County writers to celebrate National Poetry Month at Novel Ideas Bookstore in Baileys Harbor on April 30 at 2 pm. Door County Poet Laureate Estella Lauter will read her works followed by a poetry open mic.

Lauter, of Fish Creek, was appointed Door County Poet Laureate for 2013 – 2015. In 2004, Lauter retired from the University of Wisconsin system with 32 years of service. She moved to Door County and is active in the poetry community where she pens poetry and teaches classes at The Clearing.

Lauter’s published works include The Essential Rudder: North Channel Poems and Pressing a Life Together by Hand. Her work also appears in editions of the Wisconsin Poets’ Calendar and Peninsula Pulse.
