Write On Hosts Author Jane Hamilton for Writing Workshop

Write On, Door County announces that applications are now being accepted for a week-long, fiction masterclass with novelist Jane Hamilton. The master class, which will be held in person Aug. 23-27, 9 am – 12 pm, will focus on setting, structure, character, point of view and more.

Enrollment is limited to 10 people. Hamilton will select the participants for the program from among the applications. Interested writers can submit up to 10 pages for consideration via Write On’s website. Submissions are due by May 10. People will be notified of their status by May 31.

Participants are responsible for their own lodging during the week. Write On recommends booking early, as accommodations can be hard to find once the summer visitor season kicks in.

Hamilton is the critically acclaimed author of several novels. Her debut, The Book of Ruth, won the PEN/Hemingway Award for first fiction. The Short History of a Prince was a Publishers Weekly Best Book of 1998. A Map of the World was a New York Times Notable Book of the Year and named one of the top 10 books of the year by Entertainment Weekly, Publishers Weekly, the Miami Herald, and People. Both The Book of Ruth and A Map of the World have been selections of Oprah’s Book Club.
