2024 Sister Bay Goat Parade Returns June 8

Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant’s 10th-annual Roofing of the Goats parade and festival will take place June 8 this year.

The parade will begin at 11 am at the southeast corner of Highway 42  (North Bay Shore Drive) and Mill Road in downtown Sister Bay and end at Al Johnson’s.

It culminates with the first goats of the season climbing up to the roof (weather permitting – the goats don’t go on the roof in rain or snow).

The Goat Parade will be followed by the annual goat fest, located at Stabbur Beer Garden next to the restaurant. The festival will feature live music, food and drink, kids’ games and a Swedish pancake-eating contest. Other businesses throughout town will offer specials to celebrate.

The yearly goat drop contest will also return. Guests can buy a sticker to place on the street along the parade, and win a prize if a goat deposits on their sticker. Stickers can also be purchased online; participants do not need to be present to win. Proceeds from sticker sales will support the Northern Door Food Pantry at the Sister Bay Baptist Church.

Leashed or harnessed goats are welcome to join the parade, and goat costumes, Viking hats and other creative costumes are encouraged.
