8th Annual Door County Triathlon Results

Mark Harms of Madison crossed the finish line of the 2012 Door County Triathlon Half Iron in a time of 4:16:02 to capture back-to-back victories at the event.

Mark Harms, a 37-year-old from Madison, took first in the Door County Half Iron Triathlon on Sunday with a time of 4:16:02. Harms edged out Cameron Knuth of Oconomowoc, Wis., by 2 minutes and 30 seconds after swimming 1.2 miles, biking 56, and running 13.1. Ted Petermann of Shorewood, Wis., took third with a time of 4:26:59.

Thirty-one-year old Elizabeth Paddock of Madison claimed the top spot for the women with her finishing time of 4:47:11. Second place was captured by Adrienne Amman of Fox Point, Wis., with a time of 4:51:54 and Grace Trabulsi of Madison rounded out the top three with her time of 4:52:28.

Despite the heat, 877 individuals and teams completed the 70.3 mile challenge, while 872 competitors finished the Sprint Distance challenge on Saturday which included a 0.25 mile swim, 18 mile bike and 3.1 mile run.

In the sprint, Matthew Behnke of Milwaukee finished first, with a time of 1:08:29; Christopher Sachs of White Bear Lake, Minn. took second with a time of 1:09:23.4; and Ron Gierut of Cedar Rapids, Ia. placed third in 1:11:11.

For the women, Karin Langer of Chicago crossed the line first with her 1:16:21; Susan Pierson of Neenah came in second with 1:17:59; and Kristen Doster placed third in 1:19:11.
