‘A Life in the Theatre’ to Open Soon at Third Avenue Playhouse

UPDATE: A Life in the Theatre has been rescheduled for October 29-November 29, 2020. Visit here for more information.

Third Avenue Playhouse’s production of David Mamet’s A Life in the Theatre will run March 26 – April 26, with a pay-what-you-can preview performance March 25, 7:30 pm.

Directed by Robert Boles and featuring Doug Mancheski as Robert and Christian Davis Aldridge as John, A Life in the Theatre has been called a “love letter” to the theater. Mamet tells the story of passing the theatrical torch from one generation to the next using the fluctuating relationship between two actors in a repertory company – one older (Robert) and one younger (John).

Through 26 intermingled onstage and offstage scenes, they spar and critique each other’s performances. The audience becomes a fly on the dressing-room wall, eavesdropping on the actors’ conversations, and getting a from-the-wings look at pieces of their performances.

Performances are Thursday – Saturday, 7:30 pm; and Sunday, 2 pm. An additional performance will be held April 22, 7:30 pm; and there will be no performance April 12. Purchase tickets ($32 per person) at thirdavenueplayhouse.com, by phone at 920.743.1760, or in person at the box office in Sturgeon Bay.
