A Pair of Painters at Hope Church Gallery

Lauretta Kelley and Karen Lee DeNoto will exhibit their works at Hope Church Gallery throughout September.

Kelley was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1953 and received an associate degree in fashion design from the International Academy of Design and Merchandising in Chicago, Illinois. She is currently enrolled in University of Iowa’s fine art department.

Her paintings have been exhibited in several juried shows in Door County including the Hardy Gallery, Miller Art Museum, and the Link Gallery, where she won an Award of Excellence. She is a member of the Door County Art League, the Iowa Artist Guild and the Iowa Watercolor Society.

Kelley states “Drawing and painting from life and plein air painting are my passions. I chase the light, the image, the mood of the day, my soul, and the spirit of the earth.”

DeNoto spent more than 20 years in the graphic arts business working with museums, publishers and artists. She feels “passion is a gift that demands you to embrace it if you are to find your authenticity and inner joy/peace.”

DeNoto is an active member in the Door County Art League, Waters Edge Artists 2013, and the Lakeshore Natural Resources Partnership, INC 2009-2012. She has also exhibited her works in numerous venues throughout Door County including the Miller Art Museum, the Hardy Gallery, the Maritime Museum and Peninsula School of Art.

Hope Church Gallery, located at 141 South 12th Avenue in Sturgeon Bay, is open 9 am – 1 pm Monday through Friday and 9 am – 2 pm Sunday.
