A Universe of Imagination

Peninsula School of Art instructor, Kyle Martin, instructs students on how to deal with changing light as they paint outdoors during the workshop, Mastering Studio and Plein Air Painting: Teen Painting Intensive.

Young art students are invited to “discover a universe of imagination,” through the 2014 Summer Studios for Young Artists’ curriculum at Peninsula School of Art in Fish Creek.

The programs are for children ages 3 ½ to 17 years old. Some of these offerings include: Out of This World Artists, a painting workshop for 6-8 years old (June 30- July 5); the Fourth of July Parade mixed media workshop for all ages (July 2-4); and Sky High Sculptures in clay for ages 3.5 to 5 (Aug 11-16).

With 38 workshops in four age groups, the catalog includes clay workshops on the potter’s wheel, animation studios that conclude with a student film festival, skateboard screen printing, and the popular teen studio and plein air painting intensive. New this year is Teen (DSLR) Photography Intensive with Green Bay professional photographer and instructor, Kasey Hembel.

The four-day workshops are scheduled for two-and-a-half hours per day. Every child receives a free Studios for Young Artists t-shirt.

For those in need of financial assistance, the Kathryn A. “Katie” Doerr Young Artists Endowed Fund scholarships cover 100 percent of the tuition. The deadline for scholarship submissions is May 23. Scholarship applications are available at PeninsulaSchoolofArt.org.

Also, on select Fridays family members may create art together during Relate & Create workshops.

Catalogs have been delivered to local mailboxes, but additional copies of the schedule may be obtained at Peninsula School of Art, 3900 County F in Fish Creek, or PeninsulaSchoolofArt.org.
