Allegorical Additions

Artwork by Dawn Patel

Lost Moth Gallery introduces two new artists to the gallery. In addition to owner and on-site artist Jeanne Kuhns and sculptor Maureen McGrath, Lost Moth is showing works by Dawn Patel and Tony Menzer – both create allegorical images.

Patel is the former owner and creator of Brilliant Stranger, previously in Fish Creek. She has decided to pursue her dream of working as a studio artist, and has devoted herself to painting full time. With more than 35 years of painting behind her, she has a distinctive and highly original style of acrylic painting and mixed media work. Her pieces are filled with colorful layers of fantastical flora, fauna and spirit people. She often writes stories to go along with her work.

Menzer, who has just moved to Door County from Madison, has created graceful vessels with earthy green glazes, celadon and blue crystalline and blue and white salt glazes. His pieces range from functional covered dishes, vases and containers, to closed orbs.

Lost Moth Gallery is open Thursday through Sunday, and some Mondays and Wednesdays, always 10 – 3 pm. The gallery is sometimes open later when Kuhns is not playing with her band, Small Forest. The gallery is located at 7975 Highway 42, Egg Harbor. For more information, call 920.495.2928, visit jeannekuhns.net or find Lost Moth Gallery on Facebook.
