New Additions

The Donnellys “carve” shovels, wheelbarrows and other metal utilitarian objects with a hand-held plasma cutter. Their work was recently featured in a show at the Milwaukee Art Museum.

Woodwalk Gallery is open for its 20th season featuring an exhibit of the original artwork from the book Suggestions Of A Correspondence with paintings by owner/artist Margaret Lockwood, photography and poetry by Rolf Olson, and music compiled from the library of Midsummer’s Music.

The opening reception is May 25, 4:30 – 6:30 pm, with traditional paella by Scott McEvoy of McEvoy’s Culinaria, beverages, and music from the Door County Ukulele Society.

With the winter having been so bitter, many of the artists spent extra time in their studios and it shows in the variety of exceptional new pieces. Artists new for 2014 are: Bonnie DeArtegga, Collin & Meghan Donnelly, and Dale Smith. They join 51 regional artists represented by Woodwalk. Many of the artists will be on hand at the reception to talk about their new works and long winter in their studios.

Highlights of Woodwalk’s 20th season include the return of abstract painter Rebecca Crowell and sculptor Daniel Bresnahan, and pieces from Wendell Arneson’s year-long sabbatical.

The new printmaking studio, coordinated by Donna Brown, and the handmade paper and basket making studios, coordinated by Kirsten Christianson and Sally Everhardus, are open for tours. In the sculpture field, a teepee has been repurposed into a trellis for wisteria.

Woodwalk Gallery, open daily 10 am – 5 pm (except for closing at 2 pm on Saturdays), is located at 6746 County Road G, just south of Egg Harbor. For more information, call 920.868.2912.
