An Eclectic Collection from Julia M Van Roo Bresnahan at UU Gallery

An exhibit of works by Julia M Van Roo Bresnahan will be on display in the UU Gallery during November. A reception for the artist will be held Nov. 20, 12 – 2 pm. The reception is free and open to the public.

An art educator retired from Whitefish Bay, Bresnahan has been involved in the arts in Door County since she attended the Peninsula School of Art in 1970. She has spent every summer and most weekends here since then, and has owned property from 1977 to the present.

She was an active member of the Peninsula Art School Board of Directors from 1985-99, serving as chair for six years and also teaching classes there. She also taught at The Clearing in the Winter Program and served on the Hardy Gallery Board of Directors from 2000-2006 and 2010-2015. She is presently the curator of the UU Gallery, and she teaches in the Door County Learning in Retirement program. Her art may be seen at Woodwalk Gallery.

Bresnahan’s eclectic collection in this exhibit embodies her fascination with pattern, color and composition. Whether she uses acrylic, pen and ink, printmaking, or mixed media, she organizes the values and shadow that play upon form to create both abstract and realistic works of art.

The UU Gallery is located at 10341 Hwy. 42 in north Ephraim. Gallery hours are 1-3 pm Monday, Wednesday, Friday; 11 am – 12:30 pm Sunday; and by appointment. For more information call 920.854.7559.
