Annual Lavender Festival Celebrates July, Bees

Island Lavender Company is celebrating their fourth Annual Island Lavender Blooming Festival throughout July at both of their locations in Ephraim and Washington Island. As part of the Festival, Island Lavender is hosting “Art Buzz at Island Lavender” – a celebration especially devoted to bees.

Art Buzz at Island Lavender will feature visiting artists discussing, demonstrating and displaying their art inspired by lavender fields and by the fascinating artistry of bees. They will also lead fun, hands-on activities for children and adults. All events are free and family friendly, designed to increase awareness of the importance of bees to the environment.

Island Lavender Farm Market, 10432 Highway 42 in Ephraim, is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm in July. Artists Melba Cooper and Sandee Johnson will be at this location discussing, demonstrating and displaying their art from 11 am to 3 pm on the following days: July 12-16; July 19-20; July 26-30.

Island Lavender Farm and Market, 1309 Range Line Road on Washington Island, is also open 10 am to 5 pm daily in July. There will be free tours of their fields and impromptu conversations with lavender specialists. On July 21, 22 & 23, Art Buzz at Island Lavender will be held during regular business hours. The following artists and activities will be featured: artists Melba Cooper and Sara Curran, ophthalmologist Terry Curran, MD will speak about bee vision, and art educator Becky Bowman will lead children’s activities.
