Area Artists Recognized in Miller’s Juried Annual Exhibition

On Nov. 9, a crowd of artists and art enthusiasts gathered at the Miller Art Museum in Sturgeon Bay to celebrate the artists whose work was included in the museum’s 44th Juried Annual regional exhibition, which features 48 contemporary works by artists from Door, Kewaunee, Brown, Manitowoc, Oconto and Sheboygan counties.

Each year, the Miller Art Museum provides a platform for artists of the region to exhibit their work and compete for one of eight cash awards totaling $1,175. This year’s exhibit encompasses work by 37 artists in a rich array of media, subject matter and genres – including abstraction, plein air, landscapes, portraiture and still life – that was selected from more than 120 pieces submitted.

This year’s jurors were Nell Jarosh, co-owner of Edgewood Orchard Galleries; Emmett Johns, artist and owner of Emmett Johns Studio; and Katie Ries, an assistant professor of art at St. Norbert College.
