The Miller Art Museum’s “33rd Juried Annual Exhibition” opens Saturday, November 15 with a public reception from 3 – 4:30 pm for the artists. Seven cash awards will be presented at the opening, to be announced at 3:30 pm.

The paintings, drawings, prints, and photography on display for the “33rd Juried Annual Exhibition” is comprised of the work of artists from the five county area of Door, Brown, Kewaunee, Manitowoc and Oconto. Ninety artists submitted 172 two-dimensional entries, which were then reviewed by this year’s jury – artists Craig Blietz and Michael Nitsch. The resulting show includes 51 works by 47 artists that will be on exhibit through December 27.

The jury chose three works to receive Special Merit Awards, and three additional pieces were selected to honor with a Jurors’ Choice Award. The Gerhard Miller Award of Excellence will also be announced at the exhibit opening. Selected by the Miller Art Museum’s staff, the award recognizes excellence in honor of the museum’s founder. The cash award is donated by Roberta Nauman. Accompanying the award is the Gerhard Miller medal created by Hermke Timm based upon an image by James J. Ingwersen, and manufactured and donated by Mint Masters, Inc.

A critique of the show by Kohler artist and teacher Michele Gutierrez will be held on Thursday, December 11. The exhibition is sponsored by Artists Guild LLC, DC Printing LLC, and Bill & Betty Parsons.

Museum hours are Monday 10 am – 8 pm and Tuesday through Saturday 10 am – 5 pm. The museum is located within the Door County Library at 107 S. 4th Avenue, Sturgeon Bay. For further information call 920.746.0707, email [email protected] or visit http://www.millerartmuseum.org
