Artists Debut Work at Idea Gallery

The contemporary-art Idea Gallery is debuting the work of internationally renowned painter Kristy Deetz and ceramics/wood sculptor Minkyu Lee, who are also UW-Green Bay professors and new artists to Idea Gallery. Their work will be featured in Exhibit 2. An opening reception on July 6, 4-7 pm, will include refreshments in the sculpture garden, Stephen Lavell providing live music and the featured artists in attendance.

Deetz’s works are carved, burned and painted on wooden surfaces, creating an interconnected pattern echoing nature, culture and the spiritual, emotional and intellectual lives of humans. Lee’s works attempt to visualize repetition in people’s lives using geometric forms.

“Repetition, for most people, is an integral part of their daily lives,” Lee said. “Recurrence, routine, cycles and rituals are universal principles that structure nature and human existence. For me, geometric structures underlie our world. These include all organic and inorganic matter.”

Idea Gallery, 6551 County Road T in West Jacksonport, is open daily, 11 am – 5 pm. Call 920.655.1340 to learn more.
